Aadhaar eKYC is mandatory for most DBT-based welfare, pension, scholarship and subsidy payments in India. Payment processing systems like PFMS rely on successful Aadhaar authentication before funds are routed to the beneficiary’s NPCI-mapped bank account.
- OTP based eKYC (using registered Aadhaar mobile number)
- Biometric authentication (fingerprint or iris at bank/CSC/Enrolment Center)
- Face authentication (via mAadhaar or approved RD services)
- Demographic authentication (name, DOB, address match with scheme/bank data)
How to Complete Aadhaar eKYC
- Open UIDAI: https://uidai.gov.in
- Go to My Aadhaar section
- Use services such as:
- Download Aadhaar
- Verify Aadhaar
- Update Demographics
- Check Authentication History
- If OTP is required for eKYC, ensure your Aadhaar mobile is active
- For biometric eKYC, visit:
- Bank branch
- Aadhaar Enrolment/Update Center
- CSC center (for select services)
How to Check if Your Aadhaar Can Receive DBT
Request your bank to confirm:
- Aadhaar seeded in CBS
- DBT flag active on your account
- Aadhaar mapped in NPCI DBT Mapper
You can also verify scheme routing via MyLPG (for LPG subsidy): https://mylpg.in
Common eKYC Failures & Fixes
- Mobile not registered or inactive → Update mobile at UIDAI center
- Name mismatch between Aadhaar and bank/scheme → Correct in bank or Aadhaar
- Biometric authentication failing repeatedly → Use iris or face authentication option
- Aadhaar locked → Unlock using UIDAI services
- Demographic mismatch → Update Aadhaar demographics online or via center
Aadhaar Update Services
- Aadhaar demographic update: https://uidai.gov.in

- Aadhaar authentication history: https://uidai.gov.in/my-aadhaar/authentication-history
Important Notes
- Only the registered Aadhaar mobile can receive OTP for eKYC
- DBT payments always go to the NPCI mapped Aadhaar bank, not necessarily your latest linked bank until updated by the bank
- PFMS does not update Aadhaar or bank seeding—banks and UIDAI handle that layer
